Year Round Part Time Job Opportunities - Engage young minds in science and engineering; Learn new skills yourself & have fun!
We are currently recruiting for energetic individuals who have a strong passion and interest in impacting the lives of our youngest community members, and have hands-on teaching experiences in STEM-related fields.
Responsibilities:
• Lead engineering, robotics, computer programming and other STEM-related activities (after-school programs, in-school field trips, workshops and camps) with children.
• Help manage accurate program records, including daily attendance and incident reports.
• Maintain discipline while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all children, must know and understand ALL emergency procedures, as well as follow all safety guidelines associated with STEM For Kids.
• Provide parents with updates on children’s progress.
Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree or degree-in-progress in science, engineering, math or education field.
• Have a strong interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), and recognize their roles in today’s economy and society.
• Understanding of basic scientific and engineering principles.
• Dependable, responsible, can-do attitude, and ability to work in fast changing environments.
• Superior communications and a fun-loving personality.
• Ability to maintain positive relationships with parents, children, co-workers and clients.
• Eagerness to learn, create, tinker and comfortable with technology.
• Flexible to work at times during school, after-school and weekend, and in various locations around Toronto downtown and west end regions.
• High quality and professionalism is a must as we are looking for role models for children.
• Prior experience working with children, teaching in education classes, programs or camps, and knowledge of computer programming are a plus.
Necessary requirement:
• Police vulnerable sector screen (can provide later)
Work Environment:
• Programs are dynamic with high level of activity, therefore must be able to sustain positive energy throughout.
• Expect to stand up for 95% of the day, able to bend or assume postures in low-level positions to make eye-contact and work with children on the floor as needed.
• Perform all activities with children like playing, jumping, or running for extended periods of time both indoors and outdoors.
• Must possess acceptable hearing and visual abilities to monitor environment and children’s well being.
• Hours and locations vary across Toronto, as programs are conducted in schools, libraries, churches and other community spaces.
Compensation:
• Job is paid hourly at a competitive rate based on education and experience.
• Discounted class and camp rates for children, if applicable.
