On-Line Programming Descriptions Summer 2020 STEM for Kids Stateline

ONLINE App Design:

In this special online instructor led program, our goal is to inspire the next generation of STEMpreneurs! In App Building Studio, participants will
work like innovators in designing a phone application to solve an engineering or entertainment problem, build and program its prototype and
then, like an entrepreneur, they will explore ways to seek out investors for their app. With our small class size, interactive and inquiry based
teaching students will learn Critical thinking, Collaboration, Creativity and Computational skills. They will interact with the instructors and other
students in the virtual classrooms while showcasing their skills. ** PREREQUISITE

ONLINE: Engineering Challenges:

Engineering Design Process is a great way for the youngest STEM enthusiasts to enjoy the foundations of STEM! Campers will take on some
amazing engineering challenges and be sharing some of their own. Our STEM coaches will facilitate their journey to building strong their
problem solving and critical thinking muscles! Campers will use ordinary items to do extraordinary things. They will never look at a popsicle
stick or toilet paper roll the same again! Everything will start to look like a possible tool to solve a problem by repurposing it! Camper will need
to be able to use Zoom and have a Gmail account to access Google Classroom. We will send you a list of basic items they may need and we will
prepare kits for any “STEM” specific items for you to pick up in Rockton.

ONLINE: Escape Room

Campers will discover the complexities and fun of designing their very own escape room! They will begin by escaping ours! Their imaginations
will be in full force collaborating with a small group to pull together a challenging and fun room of their own. They will be able to incorporate
ipads, robots, engineering, secret codes and more! Critical - and problem solving at their best! Families and friends beware- campers will be
inviting you to come take on their challenge. They will need to be able to use Zoom and have a gmail account to access Google Classroom. They
will either join our account or create their own on a free website.

ONLINE Minecraft: City Planning

Calling all Minecraft Gamers! Don't just play vanilla Minecraft! Parents, this is a workshop that takes your child's interest in video gaming to
creating something using sustainable practices. In this special online instructor led program, participants will use Minecraft as they learn about
environmental and sustainable practices, and then apply to create their sustainable city plans. They'll learn about water, sewage, electricity, and transportation in a city while building a Minecraft city! Children will need to download Minecraft Education with latest version of Windows 10 on PC or Apple ios (we will provide log in), be able to use Zoom and have a Gmail account to access a Google Classroom.

ONLINE: Minecraft Time Travel:

You find yourself back in time! Collaborate with your fellow Crafters to build a historically accurate civilization! When will you be? Get in the time travel machine and hope for the best! Perhaps, even the future! Campers will discover the many facets in daily living that need to be considered to build an appropriate living environment. The possibilities are endless! Children will need to download Minecraft Education with latest version of Windows 10 on PC or Apple ios (we will provide log in), be able to use Zoom and have a Gmail account to access a Google Classroom.

On-Line: Motion Commotion:

In this special online instructor led program, our goal is to inspire the next generation of Mechanical Engineers! Children are engineers at heart. In Motion Commotion, give your budding engineers hands-on designing and building experience. Working like mechanical engineers, your children will experience motion and devise simple contraptions. With our small class size, interactive and inquiry- based teaching students will learn Critical thinking, Collaboration, and Creativity. They will interact with the instructors and other students in the virtual classrooms while showcasing their skills. Campers will be provided a list of basic household materials they will be using and we will provide kits with any “STEM” specific materials, if necessary. They will need to be able to use Zoom and have a gmail account to access Google Classroom.

ONLINE: Coding is Cool! Scratch Junior:

We are ready to serve our youngest coding enthusiasts! We will utilize this free program to set the foundation for a life-long journey in coding! This drag and drop code platform is perfect for young children. They will gain an understanding of many foundational coding skills through story telling, game making, animation and more. You will need to be able to download it to an ipad (or you can borrow one from us). The children will also be taught through Zoom and a Google Classroom so a computer is a must as well! (Some people have found it can be downloaded to Chromebooks (not schools') but I have had some say it didn't work well. Let the passion for STEM begin! 10 hours of instruction with additional challenges to complete on their own.
